FAQs

Can I choose any physical therapy clinic for treatment?

Absolutely!

The Patient's Bill of Rights empowers you to select the physical therapy clinic of your choice. You are not obligated to follow a physician's recommendation; no medical practitioner, insurance company, or other entity can force you to attend a specific clinic.

We provide a proactive, results-oriented environment with well-trained, knowledgeable staff. We’re confident that [site-name] will provide the highest quality care to help you achieve your goals.

Can I continue seeing a therapist even when I feel better?

The short answer is–Absolutely! In fact, at [site-name], we actually encourage you to continue seeing your physical therapist even after your symptoms appear to have resolved.

Why? Because often, even though you feel better, you may still not be fully rehabilitated. Furthermore, regular physical therapy can prevent future injury or pain while helping you optimize your overall physical performance and function.

Physical therapy is a comprehensive and ongoing process, not a one-and-done. Even after you’ve completed your initial round of treatment, our therapists can help you develop a personalized maintenance plan that ensures you’re continuing to maximize your potential, even after your recovery.

Here’s an example of maintenance plans that allow you to continue enjoying physical therapy’s many benefits:

  • Your therapist assigns you a series of specialized at-home exercises so you can continue to strengthen your muscles and improve your range of motion.
  • You come in for a re-evaluation after a month to ensure your home exercise program is working as intended.
  • You schedule check-in appointments at regular intervals (such as every six months) to ensure you haven’t regressed and to address any new developments.

Our therapists will also develop a return-to-activity schedule so you can safely return to your favorite sport or workout program without risking reinjury. A return-to-activity schedule involves gradually increasing the intensity of certain movements until you can operate as usual.

The physical therapists at [site-name] are here to help you succeed–even after you’ve completed your treatment. To get started, request an appointment today!

Can my physical therapist diagnose me?

Firstly, it’s essential to understand what a diagnosis is. Essentially, it’s a process by which an expert identifies the cause or nature of a disease, disorder, or other medical condition. This process typically involves collecting information about a patient's symptoms, medical history, and physical examination results.

Physical therapy aims not to find a diagnosis but to help you optimize your health and fitness. While a diagnosis plays an essential role in this process, it’s not the main focus of a physical therapy visit. A diagnosis may help our experts to better understand your symptoms, but ultimately, our goal is finding solutions to your concerns.

To do that effectively, our physical therapist will start with a comprehensive physical examination and health history, including learning about the diagnoses you’ve received. In addition, we’ll collaborate with physicians to confirm or explore potential contradictions to a diagnosis, ensuring the accuracy of your diagnosis and the appropriateness of your treatment plan.

You can trust the team at [site-name] to consider any conditions you’ve been diagnosed with, alongside other key factors, when they develop your customized treatment plan. We’re committed to examining your specific circumstances as we work through your physical therapy!

Do I need a doctor’s referral for physical therapy treatment?

No, you don't!

Thanks to Direct Access regulations, you can visit a physical therapy clinic of your choice and receive the treatment you need without a prescription or referral from a doctor. All fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the US Virgin Islands now grant patients "direct access" to physical therapy services, including evaluations and treatments.

[site-name] in [all-and-town][state-name] offers results-driven physical therapy. Our approach to treatment is backed by the latest research in our field. No matter your health, functionality, and fitness goals, we’ll help you achieve them.
